Microneedling
Medical microneedling is done by using a handheld device with a tip consisting of tiny needles. These pierce the top layer of the skin, or epidermis, in a rapid motion. By using an electronic device, these minute penetrations are controlled in both depth and per area thus creating a “controlled injury”. These tiny injuries induce a wound response from the body which then triggers the healing cascade. This sequence of events increases the production of collagen and elastin in the area. The tiny channels also increase the delivery of active substances to the epidermis when used with topical active ingredients. This is ideal for facial rejuvenation, aging fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring, stretch marks and surgical scarring, alopecia (hair loss), hyperpigmentation, skin laxity. When used in combination with platelet rich plasma (PRP) this treatment is also referred to the “vampire facial”.
